“I was given the job of designing the 4001 CE Erica Pierce. I thought the little girl’s paper cut-out wardrobe motif was an amusing distraction. Nobody [at Valiant] commented on it though. Not even Bob Layton, who always had a better sense of humor than Jim [Shooter], especially where sexuality was concerned. It occurred to me at the time that perhaps I’d made the cut-out tabs too small and nobody noticed them. Still, at least it made me chuckle a bit.”
