The Trip

I haven’t fully determined how to present this. I will stay with my double spread idea for now, but I expect it will have to change as the latter scenes with the young Pierce will upset the intended symmetry anyway.

We see the universe as Phil sees it conceptualized through his romantic, even naive, eyes. Vast planes of color and light surge in the background; prancing amoeba-like shapes zoom around the foreground leaving light trails that intermingle at their point of origin where needle-thin bursts of energy span outward in sparkling clusters.

In the top left corner of this colorful vista stands Phil Seleski with Dr Pierce reclining at feet, clutching his leg, looking out over at the spectacle. Their poses are a deliberate fantasy cliché; Seleski raises one hand up and outward as if in stirring salutation. Pierce clings to leg in seductive tension, frightened yet alluring.
