In keeping with Windsor-Smith’s pursuit of a broader audience, there isn’t a single clichéd, costumed super hero to be found among the three STORYTELLER titles.

The FREEBOOTERS is a humor/high adventure amalgam that takes place in a sword and sorcery milieu. It features Axus the Great, a former barbarian warrior hero well past his prime and running the colorful Ram & Peacock Inn in the exotic city of Shahariza. A naive young seer named Aran undertakes a pilgrimage to warn Axus of his dire visions of the impending resurrection of the hero's nemesis of old, the terrible fire demon Ammon Gra.
