THE GORBLIMEY PRESS
(1974 - 1993)

In 1974, at the peak of his popularity in comics, BWS chose to leave the field.

This step was motivated largely by his dissatisfaction with the exploitation of creative talent by the comics industry, but also by a growing frustration with the artistic limitations of working in commercial comics. In order to explore more personal avenues of expression, Barry shifted his focus primarily to the creation of single picture works. He founded his own company, The Gorblimey Press, to publish prints and graphic stories by himself and other artists.
